Today was a very exciting day. Bob who thought he was never going to retire, took the plunge. He retired from ACE Hardware. He will continue with real estate for a bit, but what is important here is that he thought he was never going to find a person to share his life with who had the same goals and vision for what retirement could be. In his mind he may as well continue to work because it gave him a reason to get up each day. Now that we've found each other, we have our reason for getting up, our reason for continuing to live each moment to its fullest and a reason to explore the world outside our neighborhoods.
To celebrate, I made reservations for us at Reunion. It's where I had my retirement party. This time it was just the two of us. We had appetizers, meatloaf and prime rib. I had an appletini that had the best marischino cherry in the bottom. Soooooo good. We had whiskey bread pudding for dessert, which was the bomb. It was nice to see Bob so happy. He is very deserving of happiness and a retirement with someone he loves and who loves him right back. We have such plans for our retirement together. I'm super lucky to have found someone who shares the same vision for the rest of his life that I do. Traveling together, enjoying each other, as well as the views. It was fun to get dressed up a bit and go out to celebrate. It's been a long time since I shared this type of intimate dinner, felt pretty, felt grown up, and felt like the person I was with was appreciative of what I contribute to our relationship in so many different ways.
We are in a mutual admiration society all of our own. This may be troubling to some because we have developed this relationship so quickly, but at our age when you know, you just know. All of life's experiences have brought me to this place. All the good, all the glorious, all the horrible, all of the bad, all of the everything have shaped me into this person that Bob loves and who loves Bob. I hope those who have more time to invest in the investigation of whether we are good for each other or not will be understanding of how we feel we don't have that time. We're just going to go for it and live and love every moment.
