September 2: Sometimes I Even Surprise Myself with my Stupidity

Today's post is dedicated to giving up material things. Well, let's be realistic. Our things tie us to the Earth. They hold memories. They make us feel good about ourselves - clothes, shoes, make-up. They make us proud of our accomplishments - home, cars, etc. These are visible reminders of our hard work. But we'd give up all our worldly possessions to save our love ones. Ironically they give up all their possessions when they leave us behind and look at what's beyond. When our time comes, we'll do the same. Lately I've begun to see my things as a weight that I'm pulling around the country. I have a goal regarding this, but I don't want to share it at this time. I will when I get home.

"In the spirit world, we are beings of light. That is our true nature, which is why we do not carry any of our human suffering into the afterlife." - Bob Olson

"Trying to be happy by accumulating possessions is like trying to satisfy hunger by taping sandwiches all over your body." - George Carlin

Not golden, hum

"Are you sure it's okay to pray that loud, Jean-Luc?"

"I want to be just like you when I grow up Jean-Luc. You're so cool."

I had to take my Humira shot on Monday, and I haven't recovered since. I get so sleepy the week I take the shot. So - I slept late. I have to go to see the Golden Driller today in Tulsa, then Thorncrown Chapel in Arkansas. I stopped to get gas at a Valero station in Tulsa. My camper hit the corner of the roof. It did more damage to my camper than the roof. There was no room and I had no other way to go. I have visions of pulling into my driveway at home with the camper dragging on the ground behind me - no wheels - just scraping the ground - sparks flying. Then when I come to a stop the entire back of the camper just falls off and there is the camper bathroom and all of my underthings are hanging up to dry on the shower rod. Haha. I'm past ----way past caring. Next...

The Tulsa Golden Driller is part of the fairgrounds in Tulsa. He was impressive, but we couldn't get very close due to all the construction on the new building they were erecting right next to him. He wasn't exactly "Golden" more like khaki or baby poop yellow. He was impressively large. Then I had a three hour drive to the Thorncrown Chapel. Totally worth it. It's part of the Eureka Springs, Arkansas hill country. It's a recreational area for the locals to go to - the chapel hosts many weddings. The docent was a sweet lady who invited the dogs in. She said she was watching how well behaved they were and thought they'd enjoy the air conditioning. Jean-Luc said a very loud prayer. If God didn't hear it, she's as deaf as I am. The docent thought he was hysterical. I want to live in a glass house with the woods all around me. So inspiring.

Next, a 1.5 hour drive to the hotel in Joplin, Missouri. This was called a Microtel, which I have no idea what that means. It was clean- but no other amenities. That's okay it's just one night. Tomorrow we'll be in Kansas, Dorothy.
