One Hundred Lessons I’ve Learned or Relearned on the Road

1) We are all worthy of being loved

2) We all deserve to have beauty in our lives

3) Everyone needs someone or something to take care of outside ourselves

4) Beauty can be found almost anywhere

5) Oldies are goodies for a reason

6) Sometimes you just have to stand up and bark about nothing to let off steam

7) Country music is in my soul

8) Seeing as much of the world before we leave it is important in understanding the human condition

9) Looking at works of art, creating artwork, sharing art touches an important chord in my brain

10) Mamas go ahead and let your boys grow up to be cowboys if you live in Fort Worth, but not if you live in Kansas

11) Speed bumps should always be bumps, not humps

12) I need the Beaver

13) Always check under the teeter totter first

14) Practice backing up your trailer before you go on the road

15) Live in the moment - it’s all we ever really have

16) Everyone has a back story - talk to people - be curious

17) You have to eat an elephant one bite at a time - things take time

18) Everything changes - so always expect to be pleasantly surprised

19) Learn to use all the apps on your phone including the car park app

20) God or the Universe will dash away any power you think you have over your life if you get top cocky

21) Slow down and enjoy your life, but don’t take for granted that your days here are numbered

22) Community is important to foster in your lie

23) I can do hard things

24) I can solve problems that are challenging

25) Things are just things - don’t get too attached

26) Whenever you have a chance to walk or lay on the beach you should do it

27) Don’t take yourself too seriously in any situation - if you can’t laugh at yourself you need therapy

28) No one should be alone in a crowd

29) Napping is therapeutic

30) Be kindness - Live kindness

31) Have high standards - expect respect - give respect

32) It’s easier to dry your feet than your shoes

33) If you dog chases a car, don’t chase him - if he doesn’t get hit, he’ll come back

34) Try to visit museums when they’re actually open - Haha

35) Music is the soul and expression of the universe - just listen

36) Someone told me myt aversion to public pools is an unwarranted obsession - still can’t do it - even if there’s enough chlorine to kill everyone, except me

37) Always stay calm when others are losing their heads

38) Appreciate the past - old things, old people, treasure memories

39) Surround yourself with people who are ready and willing to talk you off a ledge

40) Remember the past, but let all the shitty parts go

41) Feeling sorry for yourself may feel good for a time, but it’s never productive

42) Whenever you can take your dogs with you - you should

43) Everyone on Earth should have the opportunity to do the things that make them happy

44) It is less important where you live than who you live with

45) Love your neighbors

46) What seems like a coincidence may actually be an opportunity slapping some sense into you

47) Some people are not worthy of forgiveness

48) Don’t take your health for granted

49) Always try new things

50) Live without regrets

51) Live with love and forgiveness in your heart - remember to forgive yourself for not know what you didn’t know until you lived through it

52) Cherish your babies - no matter how old they are or how furry

53) Nurture your relationships

54) When a door closes - don’t close the windows too - Be open to any and all possibilities - you might be deliriously happy - if a door is locked, climb through the window

55) Be honest at all times - say what you mean - so you avoid misunderstandings

56) Wake up everyday with a grateful heart

57) Be generous - you’re the one who really reaps the benefits

58) When life gets really hard - have ice cream for dinner

59) All our experiences have shaped who we are, if we don’t like ourselves we need to have some different experience to reshape. Kind of like how a blacksmith reshapes steel

60) If you have to believe in something - believe in magic

61) I am stronger than I ever imagined

62) If someone is poisoning your life - cut them loose and hold onto your own life preserver

63) Always - ALWAYS let the dogs out before you go to bed

64) Live the life you’re given, let go of the one you expected to have

68) Make time to watch sunrises and sunsets - they are a daily magical mystery

69) Our children belong to themselves, not us - let them live their lives, form their own opinions, and find their bliss

71) Be the person that you would like to know, loved and befriend

72) Always check your dogs for fleas and ticks - especially if they sleep with you

73) Appreciate human touch - hugs, kisses, back rubs, holding hands, caressing

74) Wanting intimacy is not selfish

75) Slow dancing is good for the soul

76) Always help others whenever you can - It will come back to you when you least expect it

77) Take time to appreciate the view wherever you are

78) What the hell - life is too short - just eat the beignets

79) I love being a woman and I’m pretty good at it

80) Mistakes and misfortunes are just opportunities wrapped in a paper bag instead of pretty gift wrap

81) Stay humble

82) Give your best, not what’s left

83) Always have a “go bag” ready - you never know when your next adventure will present itself

84) Honor the spirit in everyone and every living thing

85) Live an inspiring life - love God - be grateful - give thanks

86) Yoga is a necessity of life

87) Swimming like being baptized everyday

88) Partake in the finer things in life - you only live once that we know of

89) Meditate or pray daily to clear out the cobwebs in your mind

90) The world is full of magic - be prepared to recognize it

91) I’m still a work in progress

92) Live in the moment, not your head - you’ll have fewer accidents

93) Do what you love when and if it is possible

94) Given the opportunity - take the dam tour

95) Don’t forget to change your oil

96) Let others treat you the way they want to be treated - It’s the silver rule

97) A gentle heart is good for your skin - it makes you beautiful

98) Keep your clothes on in public - some things should be kept private - like your privates

99) Follow your doctor’s advice unless she tells you to avoid cheese, bacon, or booze

100) Decide what you can and can’t live without and then live - JUST LIVE
