November 2-5: Meeting Jimmy

So over the last few days I've had the privilege of getting to know Jimmy, Bob's son. Jimmy is 36 years old and I think he is amazing. He is smart, insightful, introspective, and openly honest. I asked him some very pointed questions and he never seemed as though he was hedging his answers. He shared how he felt about the divorce of his parents and resulting effects on his life. He shared how he felt about his dad's second marriage and how it effected him personally. He also shared his feelings about his father's family and what the closeness of their family meant for him growing up. We talked about anxiety and the effects it's had on us both. We talked about what the relationship between myself and his father will ultimately mean to him.

Jimmy is an extremely resourceful person. l He's found a way to travel the world and be the person he wants to be. He's working a lucrative summer job that allows him to travel the rest of the year. He has a goal that he is working towards to own and operate a small hotel in a South American Country. He also makes use of a drone and his computer to make videos of surfers. He sells the footage to them for their Facebook and Instagram pages. His videos are quite good.

My hope is that at some point in our future Jimmy will consider himself part of our big family and that he would meet my sons and become comfortable with them and they with him. I also hope that he will come to trust me and consider me as a friend.
