Today's post is dedicated to a slower pace of life.

"A farm is more than land and crops. It is a family's heritage and future." - Unknown

"Do what you can with what you have where you are." - Theodore Roosevelt

"I had rather be on my farm than be emperor of the world." - George Washington

My goal was the leave the farm by 9:30. No rain! I was able to hitch up, have breakfast - give my last banana peel to the goats, say my goodbyes and get on the road by 9:31. My dad actually came outside to say goodbye - and said, "She said to tell you goodbye." meaning Max couldn't say goodbye because she didn't get a good night's sleep due to the rainstorm. I got double hugs from Phil, Jackie, and of course Terry. I felt like Dorothy getting into the hot air balloon. I enjoyed life on the farm - the slower pace - the simple things - the connection to family - the land - and the animals were all very appealing. It was weird at first, but after a couple of stops, I was back in the groove. First stop was Granite Falls in Vermont. There wasn't anyone there yet swimming, so it was very serene. Nest stop was the Sugar Shack where they make the syrup on site. There was also a Norman Rockwell exhibit. Then we were off to the Bennington Battle Monument. There was no place to park my camper, which was disappointing because you can go up in the monument and look out on the surrounding city. The last stop for the night was at the Portland Head Lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. It was gorgeous there. Sooo many Monarch Butterflies. It's actually a Monarch Waystation. The dogs were so well behaved and they really enjoyed the salty air and running around in the huge park area.

We finally settled in at the Wild Acres RV resort. My camper neighbors had the country music station turned up loud and stayed up late drinking and the wife laughed extremely loud at everything their friends said. Super annoying. I like country music, but when I stop for the night I like the tranquility and quiet time.
