Today's post is dedicated to Women's Liberation. Thank you to the women of the past who paved the way for me. Because of them - I can own property, I can vote, I can choose to marry, or not, I can wear what I want, I can be a teacher, I can be whatever I want to be and now so can my granddaughters.

Thank you to the women of the past who paved the way for me to visit a shop like this. Haha

Tasty Boudin Balls

All packed up and ready to go

Art in the hotel room

Leaving NOLA and the rain behind

Breakfast Cafe in the Hotel

When was the last time you saw trash being picked up like this?

The boys enjoyed the Boudin Balls, as well

Today we had breakfast at the breakfast cafe in the hotel. All the food we've had here has been quite good. The ceiling and artwork in the cafe was interesting to look at while we ate. Then we packed up the dogs and our bags, said a final good bye to Keron, the bell boy/valet/all around nice guy, and headed back to the Pontchartrain Landing RV Park to hitch up the trailer. Today's drive wasn't too bad. We headed for Beaumont, Texas for a one-nighter. We caught some heavy rainfall heading out of Louisiana. Then as we got closer to Texas the clouds were gorgeous.
As we neared the Texas border I kept noticing signs for Billy's Balls. The signs said that Billy's Balls are the best. So we had to stop top try them out even though we had no idea what they were. It turns out that Boudin Balls (pronounced Booden) are just any type of meat mixed with rice to form a meatball that is then dipped in a kind of fried chicken batter and then deep fried. We got the pulled port Boudin Balls. I must say that Billy's Balls were quite tasty, spicy, and large. We each had one and the dogs split one. Our next stop was at the Lion's Den. (The next paragraph is not for children.)
The Lion's Den was an adult superstore. You can imagine what the merchandise at the store might be. I had never been to this type of store - but Yvette was very comfortable there. She even thought about getting a membership discount card when she bought me my birthday present, which I will try when she goes back to California. Haha. It was an interesting and educational experience for me. LOL. We finally made it to the Hampton Inn in Beaumont. Tomorrow is a longer drive to Austin.
