August 13: The Best Laid Plans

Today's post is dedicated to the Universe or God or whomever you believe in. Whoever apparently has a sense of humor and I am the one He or She likes to f*** with. I drove a long way to the Atlantic coast of Florida, decided to take three days to lay in the sun. So fist day I checked in it was after 4:00. I walked on the beach, but I wasn't in my bathing suit, then went in to get the dogs and take them out for a walk. We checked out a local dog park - lots of bugs. After than it was time for dinner. The second day, I decided to take the dogs to another dog park, Ponce's Happy Tails, then come back, let them nap while I napped on the beach. On the way to the dog park we passed a Winn Dixie grocery store. In the book, Because of Winn Dixie the little girl, Opal moved to Florida and met her dog at a Winn Dixie and named him Winn Dixie. Ever since I saw that movie the first time I wanted that dog. I researched and discovered he was a Berger de Picard, so I decided to go with Jean-Luc Picard. All you trekkies know who he is. But I find that a lot of people ask me if he's the dog from Winn Dixie.

I feel like i'm on that kids show on Nickelodeon where if you get the wrong answer you get slimed. Only I keep getting rained on. When we were on our way back to the hotel from the Dog Park, it began to rain intensely hard with thunder and lightning. It was 82 degrees out. It rained until 1:30. It was kind of scary how black the sky got and so suddenly with winds that made it hard to steer the truck. I kept thinking - just my luck - I go to Florida and there's a hurricane. I just started laughing, because... of course.

It was supposed to sprinkle all day. The thunder and the lightning stopped so I decided to go to the beach. I mean when you travel from the west coast all the way to the east coast, you have to go into the water. So, I did. Then I lay in the sun for a few hours because tomorrow it is supposed to rain again, but for the whole day. The water was so warm. It felt delicious. I just sat down and let the waves wash over me. Then I ran into the waves and tumbled around. It was delightful. I swam a bit in the pool, but mostly laid out.

Tonight I'm trying this place called, Jimmy Hula's for dinner. It's supposed to be Mexican food with a twist. It got good reviews on YELP. I'm also going to try to make the pain killer drink. This time I have coconut milk. I go the Mojave salad, the Aloha burger, and sweet potato fries. It was all amazing. We all enjoyed it!
